Consumer Brands is a hybrid workplace! This position is expected to collaborate with our fully vaccinated team in the Rosslyn office at least two days per week (Wednesdays are required) and has flexibility to work remotely for the remaining days.

Position Overview:

Consumer Brands is looking for a motivated student passionate about making a difference in the home of every American consumer. Consumer Brands champions growth and innovation for food, beverage, household and personal-care product companies with currently more than 1,700 brands represented. Consumer Brands Industry Engagement is responsible for member recruitment and retention, providing products and executing education and events for the consumer packaged goods (CPG) Industry.

Key areas of responsibility:

The Industry Engagement intern will support the functions of the Industry Engagement team. This internship provides opportunities to become familiar with the various facets of trade association management including membership, sponsorship, speaker management, market research, program development. Ideal applicants will have an interest in business or event management. Examples of some of the tasks you’ll be doing include:

  • Assist with the creation of materials that outline benefits and engagement opportunities for all member types.
  • Support the planning and development of:
    • CPG Summit: our premier C-suite conference that brings together the consumer packaged goods (CPG) industry’s most prominent executives and customers.
    • CPG Legal Forum: The Consumer Brands CPG Legal Forum is the premier gathering for legal professionals in the CPG industry from household and personal care to food and beverage products.
    • Webinars, including Industry Insights (overviews of emerging issues), Industry Solutions (solutions offered by Industry Allies) and CPG Speaks (conversations with C-Suite leaders on the state of the business and consumer trends).
  • Monitor deliverable and milestone progress, aligning event logistics with the production plan.
  • Attend planning meetings and write up minutes including key takeaways and deliverables.
  • Research and summarize member and sponsor businesses, write markups, draft communications and format documents.
  • Create and maintain event planning documents, presentations, and event assets.
  • Support industry engagement team with speaker, sponsorship and event planning activities including data entry and list management.
  • Collect and catalogue speaker and sponsor forms and assets and follow up on missing items.

Requirements:

  • Intern candidates are current students (sophomores and above) pursuing their undergraduate degree. Recent graduates are welcome to apply.
  • Interest in business, sales or event management.
  • Experience working with the public, either as a volunteer or through employment.

What Else:

  • This is a paid summer internship working up to a full-time schedule (37.5 hours per week, Monday through Friday).
  • Intern candidates are available to work 8-10 weeks starting in early- to mid-June.
  • This internship will be a hybrid opportunity allowing some remote work as well as work in the office and participation in select off-site meetings.
  • Unfortunately, at this time, we are unable to offer a housing stipend.
