This is a regular, full-time position and is expected on-site at our Rosslyn office Tuesday through Thursday. There is flexibility to work remotely most Mondays and Fridays and is expected to report to the office if on-site presence is needed.

Position Overview

The manager, supply chain is responsible for engaging with member businesses and implementing public affairs strategies that support Consumer Brands’ supply chain efforts and help to shape and enhance the program’s effectiveness. Reporting to the vice president of supply chain, the manager will engage with member businesses and monitor emerging policy and regulatory issues. The manager has critical responsibilities in developing and articulating the consumer packaged goods industry’s point-of-view on advocacy and industry affairs issues including trade, transportation, labor, manufacturing innovation and other focal areas.

Key areas of responsibility

Member Engagement

  • Coordinate frequent touch campaigns to engage member businesses in key issues and build cross-industry support for Consumer Brands’ supply chain activities.
  • Provide research, data and issue-related information to staff, members, and other internal/external stakeholders.
  • Partner with our communications team to convey supply chain narrative as well as industry progress and achievements through creative storytelling.
  • Facilitate select supply chain program meetings and solicit member company feedback, ensuring participation through structured agenda-setting and programmatic refinements.
  • Heighten awareness to Consumer Brands’ supply chain advocacy and industry affairs efforts.

Monitoring Policy and Industry Issues

  • Monitor and assess federal and state legislation, regulation, emerging policies and issues that impact CPG supply chains.
  • Become an industry supply chain expert, monitoring and updating the association on the most important issues for the CPG industry in this area.
  • Drive, craft and produce, in partnership with the communications team, compelling external and internal narratives that speak to Consumer Brands’ policy objectives.
  • Advocate for proactive policy solutions and brainstorm effective industry-led initiatives to solve pressing supply chain challenges.

Stakeholder Management

  • Monitor supply chain content for effectiveness and recommend improvements based on available metrics, usage reports and user feedback.
  • Represent the association and its policy positions at industry meetings and events.
  • Collaborate with coalition partners, attending public facing events and conferences.
  • Support the development of position papers, draft correspondence and prepare other materials to articulate the organization’s supply chain position to stakeholders.
  • Serve as a supply chain staff resource, including for industry insights and research.

    Experience & Education

    • Bachelor’s degree in public policy, communications, supply chain, urban planning, transportation, logistics or related field preferred, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
    • 2-5 years of professional experience.
    • Demonstrated interest in supply chain and transportation / logistics issues, especially as they relate to public policy.
    • Advocacy or public affairs campaign experience preferred. Congressional office or federal/state agency experience a plus.
