Consumer Brands Statement on EPA National Recycling Strategy

Today, the Consumer Brands Association issued the following statement from President and CEO Geoff Freeman in response to the Environmental Protection Agency’s National Recycling Strategy: Part One of a Series on Building a Circular Economy for All:

“The release of EPA’s National Recycling Strategy shows important recognition that the federal government must play a role if we are to advance meaningful change to a critical part of our environmental future.

“Consumer Brands has long advocated for many of the provisions in the strategy. As we shared in last week’s report, Set up for Failure: How the Fragmented Approach to Recycling Fails Consumers and the Environment, fixing America’s broken recycling system must start with standardized definitions. They are the gateway to the measurement, management, funding and consumer education that will define the success of recycling’s future.

“We look forward to being an engaged partner and information resource as EPA moves from planning to implementation.”
