Stacy Shibao Papadopoulos is the chief operating officer and general counsel for the Consumer Brands Association. She serves on the organization’s executive team, leading the legal and operations functions as well as regulatory affairs and special initiatives like the association’s SmartLabel digital transparency program. With a combination of legal and business experience, Papadopoulos seeks to optimize efficiencies across multiple departments and identify opportunities to add value that benefits members and the industry as a whole.
Papadopoulos was previously general counsel and senior vice president of industry services of the American Gaming Association (AGA), the association that represents the casino industry. In this role, she was responsible for legal, operations and revenue development, including member engagement, strategic partnerships and two annual trade shows — Global Gaming Expo (G2E) Las Vegas and G2E Asia. During her tenure, AGA nearly doubled its revenue and tripled its core membership, while launching valuable new business initiatives to diversify revenue. Papadopoulos joined AGA in 2014 as general counsel and assumed progressively more responsibility over her five years with the organization.
Prior to AGA, Papadopoulos worked as a corporate attorney, focusing on corporate governance and risk management, securities disclosure, executive compensation, corporate transactions and nonprofit law. She previously worked inhouse at Freddie Mac and at the law firms of Gibson Dunn & Crutcher LLP and King & Spalding, and as a partner at the Potomac Law Group.
Papadopoulos graduated cum laude from the Georgetown University Law Center and magna cum laude and Phi Beta Kappa from Georgetown University. She lives in Falls Church City, Virginia, with her husband and three children. As a Hawaii native, Papadopoulos has a special place in her heart (and her diet) for SPAM, a favorite CPG product.
