Consumer Brands Issues Statement on the Trump Administration’s Executive Order Recognizing Unavailable Domestic Natural Resources

ARLINGTON, VA — November 14, 2025 — The Consumer Brands Association issued the following statement from Consumer Brands President & CEO Melissa Hockstad on President Trump’s executive order that addresses tariffs on unavailable domestic natural resources:
“Consumer Brands commends today’s executive order that recognizes unavailable domestic natural resources and helps address rising grocery costs. The makers of America’s favorite brands make up the largest U.S. manufacturing sector by employment and source 90 percent of ingredients and inputs from American farms and suppliers. But some products — like coffee, cocoa, spices, tropical fruit, and more — are simply unavailable in the U.S.
“Building on this common-sense step, it is imperative that we continue to assess other types of critical inputs that are not readily available in the U.S., like palm oil and other products on Annex III, as well as tin mill steel used to make food and aerosol cans. Consumer Brands looks forward to working with President Trump and his administration to protect the availability and affordability of every day essential products and support the success of America First trade policy.”
