ARLINGTON, Va. — Today, the Consumer Brands Association released the following statement from Geoff Freeman, president and CEO, on the news that President-elect Biden will appoint California Attorney General Xavier Becerra to lead the Department of Health and Human Services:

“The consumer packaged goods industry looks forward to working with California Attorney General Xavier Becerra in his new role leading HHS. As one of the nation’s top health officials, his priority on day one has to be the vaccination of those most at risk and the essential workers that feed, protect and supply our nation. Strong federal leadership is critical to our nation’s recovery.

“The pandemic has proven the need for strong, clear federal guidance on myriad issues. We look forward to working with AG Becerra to strengthen this approach at the Food and Drug Administration and within other agencies.”
